Work Permit for Foreign Students

According to the New Law on the İnternational Labor Force, foreign students who are enrolled in formal graduate programs as Master’s or Ph.D program  in a higher education institution in Turkey are able to work and apply for work permit.

However, foreign students who are enrolled in associate degree or undergraduate programs in Turkey are given the right to work no more than 30 hours a week following the first year of studies.

Work permits granted to the foreign students do not terminate the valid student residence permit and the rights granted by this residence permit. Procedures and principles regarding the employment of foreign students are determined by the Ministry by taking the opinions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and by taking into consideration the principles determined by the Immigration Policies Committee.

In the event that the foreigners who completed their higher education in Turkey apply for a work permit within one year as of their graduation date, the application shall be evaluated in accordance with the principles determined by the International Labour Policy Advisory Board.

Important: Please be informed that foreign students who granted state scholarship in Turkey during the Bachelor degree are not able to get work permit after the graduation even if their type of residence permit has been changed to the short term residence permit.

    I will graduate soon from bachelor of dentistry from one of turkey public university and I also thinking for continuing my study here.

    Its mention that international students on a state scholarship during their Bechelors or an Associate degree program are not allowed to work.

    Is this same for international students for Master program (scholarship and non-scholarship)?

    Note:
    I am a prospective student from Pakistan and received an offer letter for MBA from Sehir University Istanbul on a 50% scholarship.

    I am an international student in Netherlands. I am holding Indonesia passport. I am an awardee of a scholarship.
    I am accepted By an NGO and would like to do internship in Turkey started this coming month on April. I tried to apply for student internship visa, but It takes at least a month.
    So, can we make a work permit in Turkey after when we arrive there? What is you suggestion?

    Firstly I would like to express my thanks for your services toward foreigners around Turkey.

    Could you please provide me with the official source link of the law where this is clearly stated? because I am currently a master student in my last year and applied for job in which I was not accepted with the reason that I cannot work as student.
    I would like to find the official source to go through the legal procedures to apply for work again.

    I am currently a third-year student and after I graduate I plan to find a formal job here, if I succeed in finding a company willing to hire, how do i go about applying for a work permit? or can I work using my residence permit?

  7. Hello , Im marrocan and i i want to study in turkish (Graduate) , and i have two questions
    1: Can i legally work in my free time
    2: if yes , a part work salary (waiter.barman…) will it be enough for to pay all the bills (Rent,Food,electricity,internet,light shopping)

I am a foreign PHD student in the first year in Turkey , I want to work for a foreign company but according to the working laws in turkey they told me that they need to hiring five Turkish citizens employees to be able to get a work permit but they have only three , what’s your advice in this case?
