      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

You can only extend the duration of stay by applying for residence permit within Turkey or by leaving the country and obtaining new visa to enter Turkey for another period of time stated in your visa.

    Good day.

    Hope you are fine .

Kindly guide me the process of family TRC and total fees for each member of family if i have a Turkish residence permit card.

    • ExpatGuideTurkey

      Dear Atif,
      Thank you for your comment.

As long as you are not work permit holder for at least one year, your family is not entitled for family residence permit. Your family members should separately apply for another kind of residence permit according to the purpose of stay. Governmental fees depends on applicant’s nationality and requested period of stay. Health insurance costs change according to the age of applicants.

    Hello,
Thank you for this guide. I have a question about medical insurance. I will be visiting my husband in Turkey for a little over 3 months. When I did short term visits, I was required to have travel insurance. I understand that with a residence permit I can use his insurance if I am to get sick. When I go through passport control, how will I prove that I am covered? Or is the resident permit enough?
    Thank you,

    • ExpatGuideTurkey

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

You do not need to prove having health insurance during passport control. If you are going to apply for residence permit, you will need to obtain health insurance within Turkey for this purpose. If your husband is Turkish national and is registered in social security, you can benefit from his health insurance as well.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

Unfortunately, we can not help you to find a job in Turkey, you can search for one via websites like kariyer.net and after you find one, your future employer must apply for your work permit. However, be informed that there are some regulations rregarding employing foreigners and specific jobs that are forbidden to be done those who are not Turkish citizens like, for example, security staff.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

You are allowed to apply for touristic residence permit basing on your visa. However, finding job is an individual case and depends on your qualifications, not your nationality so it is not possible to say clearly if you can find one easily.

Hello. I’m 29, single and from Iran. I’m an English teacher. Some of my former coworkers have moved to Turkey via renting a flat and getting a job (working in language institutes) in Izmir. Since I’m not in touch with them any more, I will be glad if you give me details about the process. Is it possible for me to go to Izmir, get my short term residence of 6 months/1year (if I’m not mistaken) by renting a flat?
And Is there any chance Language Institutes hire me?
    I would appreciate your help.

    • ExpatGuideTurkey

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

It is possible to apply for touristic residence permit after you come to Turkey on touristic visa and buy or rent a flat. If the permit would be granted, you can search for a job within Turkey and after you find one, your future employer must apply for for your work permit. Foreigners can not apply for work permit in their own name or without having a job in Turkey. Application for foreigner who has residence permit valid in total for at least 6 months can be done within Turkey. For foreigners who are not residence permit holders, application must be done via Turkish Consulate in their home country. Work permit application can not be submitted basing on visa. We do not have informations about available job offers but being hired by a language institute as a foreigner is possible.

    Hi,

What is the Fee for Single Entry Visa? Which countries get charged for it? The DGMM’s “157” support line says that it’s for visa exempt countries like for example some of the European countries and Asian countries when they apply for ikamet. However, some visa exempt countries, like Iran, don’t seem to get charged this Visa Fee whereas other visa-exempt countries, like Malaysia, do. Could you shed some light on this? Is this charged for visa exempt countries each time an ikamet application is filed and extended? Thanks.

Greetings. If i apply for a tourist visa, do i need to book a hotel before i get to turkey or i can do that after i arrive in turkey. Also if my 90 days tourist visa expires and i want to sty on for a little while longer, what do i have to do?

    • ExpatGuideTurkey

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

Reservation details depend on your nationality and visa requirements. If you need to present documents stating your accomodation in Turkey in order to apply for visa, then you should make the reservation before. Otherwise, you can make the reservation after arrival as well. If you would like to stay in Turkey longer than 90 days, you must apply for residence permit. Please, be informed that application procedures can last up to 3 months and you need to be present in Turkey during this time after your visa would expire.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

You can only apply for long term residence permit if you have been short term residence permit holder uninterruptedly for last 8 years. Short term residence permit is primarily given to property or company owners in Turkey. To apply for residence permit or business purposes you will need to provide immigration office with invitation letter from your business partners in Turkey. Currently cost of governmental fees for both kinds of permit is close to 500 TL per one year.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

As a property owner in Turkey, you can apply for residence permit as long as you have valid Turkish visa and you are already within the country. After you stay in Turkey for 5 years uninterruptedly and will meet other criteria, you also have a right to apply for Turkish citizenship. You do not need to get rid of your current citizenship in order to become Turkish citizen. If you need assistance regarding citizenship or residence permit application, you can contact us at: info@expatguideturkey.com.
