Short History of Kilis

Kilis was under the Aleppo Kingdom in 1460 BC. With the beginning of the Hittite empire period, it came under the influence of the Hittite. Alexander the Great, who set out from Macedonia in 356 BC, occupied all the Anatolian lands from the north west to the south east and founded Iskenderun based on the Gulf of Iskenderun and continued on his way to Egypt through Kilis.  The city was a district of Gaziantep with establishing Republic of Turkey in 1923. In 1995, Kilis became a province.
