      Hello,
As you can prove a stable income from abroad you are eligible for residence permit application. As US passport holders you are also allowed to extend your residence permit even if it would be obtained for purpose of tourism.

      Hello,
Foreigners, who are residence permit holders are allowed to start business in Turkey with minimum paid capital of 10.000 TL. However, in order to do business activity, foreigners are supposed to obtain work permit. Work permit can be only obtained if criteria of Ministry of Loabor as below would be met:
      – paid capital of the company must be 100.000 TL or more
      – there must be at least 5 Turkish citizen employed in the company per each foreign work permit holder

hello, my student permit will be expiring next month. i really need your answer regarding my concern. here, i have written two questions that address the difficulties that i am currently facing.

      1. is it alright if i haven’t applied for the application renewal 60 days prior to the expiration date of my student permit? i only have one month left so i’m just wondering if i will be facing conflicts because of this?

      2. i tried to apply in the official page https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/ today June 3, 2020, and the link seemed to be unresponsive whenever i try to fill out the information that it needs. i wonder if the problem is within the system, the website, or with my student permit itself?

thank you for taking your time to read this message. hoping for your response soon. thankyou.

      • Expatguide

        Hello,
You are allowed to submit residence permit renewal application until the last day of your current permit’s validity, it is not mandatory to apply 60 days before expiration date. As we do not know the details of your application or residence permit status, it is not possible to say what is the source of problem, which you are facing on the website. You can receive information in this topic by calling 157.

    Hello,

My residence permit is valid until September 2020, but I am graduating in June 2020. Can I stay until September or should I leave within 10 days after graduation?

Also, under what basis can I apply for a 1 year extension? Should I apply for the extension within 10 days after graduation or after the expiry date of my residence permit ?
    Thanks 🙂

    • Expatguide

      Hello,
You are allowed to stay in Turkey until expiration of your residence permit in September. If you would like to extend your stay, you should transfer your student permit into short term residence permit. Transfer application can be submitted before expiration of your current permit.

    Hi there,

I know Turkey isn’t extending tourist ikamat – is this across all countries or are there some exceptions like British nationals? I do not think UK citizens fall under EU anymore as Britain has left the EU.

    Thanks

    • Expatguide

      Hello,
Although United Kingdom is not EU member anymore, UK citizens are still eligible to extend touristic residence permit.

    Hello
I had 2 questions from you
I am living in turkey for 7 years since 2013, and i stayed all this time using a touristic residence permit
how can I extend my residence permit for another year? I would like to establish a company (not only for residence permit extension but for doing E-commerce business selling goods online in turkey and also international export)
But It won’t be feasible for me to get work permit considering i have to employ 5 Turkish citizen

    So my questions are :
1-Do i actually need a work permit if i just want to do e-commerce ? (I heard it doesn’t need but not sure as i get contracting information)
2-If so will that be enough (”A Sahis sirket ”) for me to extend my stay in turkey using (”is kuracaklar icin ” in residence application menu)

Thanks so much for your time

    • Expatguide

      Hello,
If you are not a citizen of one of the countries, which are eligible for touristic residence permit extension, you can extend your residence permit for another 6 months after company establishment. However, after 6 months passes you are supposed to obtain work permit and for this purpose your company’s paid capital must be at least 100.000 TL and you need to employ 5 Turkish citizens. This rules also apply to company’s doing e-commerce and international export.

    Hi there,

My mother came to visit on an entry visa for which she can stay in Turkey three months – She is a British citizen. She was going to leave but the coronavirus caused the lockdowns everywhere including flights. Her visa will be expiring before airports are due to open. In this case what can she do? Will she have to apply for a resident permit or is there an exception in this case? She will leave as soon as flights open again.

    Will appreciate your help.

    Many thanks

  • Sarah

I am trying to get a 5 year independent work permit. Do I need to have an employer to get this kind of permit? How would I go about starting the process? Could you assist me?

    Thank you!

    • Expatguide

      Hello,
Independent work permit can be granted to foreigners, who are staying in Turkey for at least five years on basis of work permit. However there is number of criteria taken under consideration while evaluating independent work permit application such as level of education, professional experience, contribution to be made in science and technology and the contribution of the investment to be made in Turkey in the country’s economy.

      Kind Regards,

      • Sula

Therefore, my employer would have to apply for me to get an independent work permit? Is this correct?

  • Kate

    Hello,
I am Kate, a product designer born in Slovenia (EU) but currently based in Turkey. I am looking into starting a personal company (sole proprietorship) so I can legally do freelance project-based work in Turkey. After going through your entire page I am still a little bit confused as to what would be the best thing for me to do so I would like to ask you to kindly answer some questions:
    – Based on what I described about my business so far would sole proprietorship be a good decision for me or would any other form of a company be more fitting?
    – Do I need any separate work permits besides a residency permit and a Turkish bank account to operate?
    – What is the basic process of getting an Adi Sirketi set up?

Thank you for your answers in advance.
    Best regards,
    Katarina
