    Hello,
    I like to install my family in Turkey and I can buy a house for 650,000 TL. But I cannot live in Turkey as I work overseas. My wife and kids will live and study in Turkey. What kind of residency permit, how many years residency I can get? Then eventually after 5 years to apply for Citizenship I must show I have lived for 5 years but I cannot prove that since I work overseas. I have a steady and stable job and income overseas for the last 17 years.
    Thank you

      Thank you for your comment.

      If you purchase a property in Turkey, you and your family can obtain residence permit for property owners. This kind of permit is usually given for one year at fist and later can be extended for up to three years each time. In order to apply for citizenship after 5 years, foreigner can not stay abroad longer than for 1 year within those 5 years.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your comment.

      It is possible to buy a small flat in this price in Istanbul. Most probably it would not be center located but it would be enough to obtain residence permit as a property owner.

    Hello,
    I will apply for my residence permit soon. My sister is property owner but does not live in Turkey. You mention that:
    “Foreigners who buy property in Turkey can get residence permit provided that it is extended in certain periods, they also have the right to get residence permit for their families.”
    Does this rule also apply for sisters?
    Thank you for your help.

    What about if the foreigner is currently renting a house, appartement or an office in Turkey. Will he or she be able to get Citizenship or residence permit ?

    • ExpatGuideTurkey

      Hello;
      Thank you for your comment.

      İt mostly depends on your visa’s type and validity. İf you came on tourist visa and it is still valid, you can apply for tourist residence permit if you rent a house or appartment and can prove your income for past 6 months. There is few ways of aqcuiring Turkish citizenship but there is also much more conditions you would need to fulfill to apply for it. You can read more about this topic in our article: https://www.expatguideturkey.com/acquisition-of-turkish-citizenship/
